A National Historic Landmark as of the first planned shopping areas in the country designed to be a short walk from all Greenbelt homes. Built in 1938 in the art deco style, it embodies the New Deal ideals as a place for shops and community gathering place. The amazing Old Greenbelt Theatre, Co-op Market, Credit Union and New Deal Café are all operate as non-profit coops. The Center has several restaurants and businesses and hosts a weekly farmer's market. The Granite Building provides work space for small business and remote workers. There is always something going on in this active community hub.
